What you are actually paying for
A first visit is two things: the exam and the treatment. The exam is where the value is. A chiropractor who spends five minutes with you before adjusting is guessing; one who spends forty-five knows which joint, which disc, and whether you belong in his office at all.
The number to ask about is not the price of the first visit. It is what happens after. Some offices price the first visit at $29 or $39 and make it up on a prepaid plan of 24 or 36 visits pitched on day two. That is where the real cost hides.
What Sanford offices charge
Cash prices in Seminole County fall into three groups. Chain clinics and franchise offices run intro offers of $29 to $69 for a short first visit, then $45 to $70 per adjustment on a membership. Independent offices charge $120 to $250 for a full first visit and $50 to $90 per follow-up. Offices that bill insurance often list higher rates but accept the insurer's contracted amount.

Does insurance cover chiropractic?
Most Florida health plans cover chiropractic care with a copay of $20 to $60 and a visit limit, often 20 to 30 a year. Medicare covers manual adjustment of the spine only, not the exam or other therapies. If you were hurt in a car accident, your auto policy's PIP coverage pays 80 percent of care up to $10,000 as long as you were seen within 14 days.
Call your plan and ask two questions: is chiropractic covered, and is there a visit limit. Then call the office and ask whether they are in network. Ten minutes on the phone saves a surprise bill.
How to avoid overpaying
Four questions before you book anywhere:
- How long is the first visit, and is the doctor in the room for it?
- Does the first-visit price include treatment, or only the exam?
- Do I have to buy a package, or can I pay per visit?
- What does a follow-up cost, in dollars, if I pay cash?
What it costs to wait
A locked joint treated this week usually takes three to six visits. The same joint after three months of compensating, with the muscles around it guarding and the disc above it under load, takes longer and costs more. The cheapest visit is the early one.
